The 1894 Grand Opera House where the hilarious "A Tuna Christmas" is an annual must see, and the edgy East End Theatre Company are both on Postoffice Street; the community Strand Theatre on Ships Mechanic Row has terrific shows. Dickens on the Strand, a period festival with roasted chestnuts, hot buttered rum, street carolers and unusual vendors, turns the clock back 100 years. If you don't have a costume; wear dark colors to honor the authenticity of the scene. Galveston is a great place to Christmas shop early and surprise your family and friends with something unusual from Hendly Market or the Nest.
